• After a meeting last night, nearly all of the GOP campaigns came to a decision about debates going forward. In a union-like move they plan to take a substantial portion of control over debate negotiation away from the RNC in order to deal with networks on issues of debate formats and rules.
• Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush pressed his attack on rival Marco Rubio’s record of missed Senate votes, saying it showed Rubio had “given up” on breaking through the political gridlock in Washington.
• Fred Thompson, a folksy former Republican U.S. senator from Tennessee who appeared in feature films and television including a role on “Law & Order,” died Sunday, his family said. He was 73.
• The Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Mets 7-2 to win the World Series early Monday. This is the team’s first World Series title since 1985.
